Energy Recovery Project

Customer: McCain Foods
Value: £0.7m
Sector: Food

Project Summary:

Musk Engineering were approached by a Project Management company to take over the mechanical installation of an Energy Recovery scheme at McCain Foods Whittlesey factory.

The installation comprised:

  • Steam, condensate, and water pipework
  • Installation of valves, pumps, and vessels
  • Removals of redundant pipework and equipment

The company who were awarded the original contract went into receivership leaving the project only 10% complete. There were large number of unknowns associated with the taking on of the scheme, along with the requirement to mobilise our labour as soon as feasibly possible. All works undertaken were executed against an agreed schedule of labour rates, utilising signed timesheets, and with all materials and works equipment being provided at cost plus an agreed handling fee.

Despite the difficulties of taking on a part-completed project Musk worked with McCain, the designers, and the project managers to ensure the project was completed on time, to a high standard, and with minimum disruption to the existing processes.

With sometimes hazardous working conditions Musk completed the installation with zero accidents/incidents.
